new fireplace!!

We decided to remodel our fire place this past weekend. Carson had tore out all the old "cheap" wood that was there and replaced it with some very nice Knotty Alder, i LOVE the way it turned out. next winter we will be replacing our floor boards and trimming out the windows and doors with the same wood. (since we have it sitting in the garage). here are some pictures of the boys working hard on the fireplace!

since i am so horrible at keeping everyone updated with pictures, i finally decided to upload some to my blog!!!
Things are going great here, our good old Central Oregon weather has been crazy... in the 80's last week, and today we woke up to SNOW....YUCK!!!! we are so ready for summer to get here.
Here are some Easter pictures, some picture of our quick trip over to Burns for my Great Grandpa 93rd birthday, we had all of our family from Bend, and Vegas meet up for his birthday, we also went out to our family ranch. Colton loved it out there, he played in the dirt, sat on the old tractors (that i once played on as a kid too) chased the cows around and got to just hang out and be a little boy and get dirty! we had a nice visit with every one while we were there, i sure miss all my family!

Just thought i would check in, not much is going on in the Widmer household.
it has been beautiful outside the past few days, so we have been taking full advantage of that. carson has been working in the yard getting it all ready for spring/summer (those that know him, know he is very anal when it comes to the yard) we got a new patio set all put together (thanks mom and dad!) and Colton has been loving life being about to play outside. he never wants to come in. the boy would sleep out there if he could. however with our good ol' Central Oregon weather i am sure this is NOT going to last and it will go back to snow any day now.
We decided it was time to change Colton's bed from a crib to a big boy bed, so far so good, we have had a little trouble at nap time but other than that he loves his new bed. (our baby is getting so big).

Happy 2nd Birthday Colton!

on March 23, our baby turned the big 2... oh boy, here come the terrible 2's!
We had a great birthday weekend for Colton. We celebrated with a big birthday party with our family and friends at the local Pappy's Pizza wich has a big indoor play place the kids can run wild and play in. He got tons of fun toys, and he was so excited to open every present on his own...Mr. Independent wouldn't even let us help with the cards.;) On his actual birthday, we had a busy day, one of Coltons gifts from Carson and I was he got to go to the pet store and pick out his very first fish. he picked out a very pretty blue Beta fish, I asked him what he was going to name her, and he said 2... so i guess we will call her 2 until he can come up with something else. I took Colton to lunch at Red Robin with his best little buddy Melia, they had a great time together. later in the evening, our families came over for more cake and presents for the Birthday Boy.
Today, Colton had his 2 year check up with Dr. Chun, he weighs 33lbs and is in the 95% for his weight, and he is 37 1/2 " and is off the charts for his height. they said he is the size of an average 3 year old. Doctor says you can take their height at 26 months and double it and that is how tall he will be when he is grown up... so if we figure he will probably grow a bit in the next couple months, so he thinks Colton will be around 6'4ish... WOW! Everything else seems to be going great, he is a very smart little boy, and somewhat ahead for his age group.
Everything else is going great here with all of us, Carson had a phone interview with the Madras prison that he has been trying since Oct. to get on with, so keep your fingers crossed that he gets called in for the written tests. rumor has it they are only going to hire a few people, but it would be great if Carson was one of them.

Relay for Life Walk

On June 13th and 14th, i will be participating in a 24 hour walk for the Relay for Life.
as most of you know, Cancer has hit my family very hard this year, and I will be walking in honor of my mom.
My team has a goal to raise $2000 for the Cancer Society of America. We are doing a few fund raisers in the next couple of months to raise money for the relay. The first one is, we are selling PartyLite Mini Barrel Jar candles for $11 (that includes shipping).
The second fund raiser we will be doing is a big yard sale. If you happen to have anything sitting around your house that you want to get rid of and would like to donate it to us for the sale, please let me know, and i would be glad to come and take it off your hands. We are planning on doing the sale at the end of May. ALL proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
We will also be selling "In honor of" and "In Memory of" stars which you donate an amount of your choice and have your loved one's name on the star and we will be displaying them during a special lap around the track.
